I’m an athlete, more so now, later in life. No, I don’t do anything amazing like running marathons. I’m just really fit. It wasn’t always that way. Born pre-Title Nine, there were no sports for girls. I grew up smoking with friends at the mall. In my 30’s I quit smoking and began working out. I ran, lifted weights, and was physically active.
In middle age, working full-time, raising kids, I didn’t make time for exercise or self-care. I gained weight and began experiencing body pain and dysfunction. I wanted to change, but where to start? Deciding to never diet again, I committed to eating healthy most of the time, but not to deprive myself when I really wanted to eat something. I began to consistently make choices to eat fresh, wholesome foods that were good for my body. I committed to exercise, no matter the duration or type, at least 5 days a week, making it the most important thing I did each day. I lost weight. My pain and physical limitations disappeared. Fitter and healthier, I was motivated to become a Personal Trainer to share the joy of transforming oneself.
In the same way as my physical health, I have been on a life-long journey towards mental and spiritual well being. I’ve learned and been inspired by seminars, retreats, online courses, books, and podcasts. Now I am interested in sharing with others my journey to becoming my healthiest self, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I aspire, as a Healthy Aging Influencer, to do so.
